Principals

Tom Lowden - Tom Lowden - Tom has been specializing in the group benefits field for over 15 years. During that time, he has been an underwriter, field underwriter, Service and Sales Representative as well as Senior Account Executive. He has sat on Administration, Disability and Flexible Benefit steering committees for several major insurance companies. Presently, he is an active member in the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute (CPBI) as well as provides group benefit consulting services to other insurance advisors. Tom is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and recently succeeded in obtaining his Group Benefits Analyst designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Specialists. He is now working toward his Registered Health Underwriter designation.

David Schock - David has more than 15 years experience in the pension and benefits field. After many successful years at a major Canadian life insurance company, David joined Johnson Schock Associates. He has primary responsibility for JSL's retirement business. David is a part time lecturer on the basics of employee benefits and is Past President of the Toronto Chapter, International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist.

David holds three professional designations: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified General Accountant (CGA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). In addition, David has an Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours Business Administration degree from the University of Windsor.

Associate Life and Health Consultant

Judy Godin - Judy has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of the Employee Group Benefits industry. She was a Group Insurance Underwriter for Confederation Life for 13 years and a Senior Account Manager for Allstate, Confederation Life and Manulife Financial. In her Account Management position, Judy was responsible for group clients ranging in size from 25 employees to over of 10,000 employees. She has a great depth of knowledge of Flexible benefit packages and all types of financial arrangements.

Both her Group Insurance Underwriting and Group Account Management background provide her with a wealth of experience to manage all aspects of an employee benefit program.

Associate Pension Consultants

David Kidd - David graduated from York University (B.A. Economics) in 1971.

He joined The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company in 1971 and worked in marketing and human resources positions before starting a career in group retirement plan sales and service from 1976 to 1980 and sales management from 1980 to 1985.

In 1986, Mr. Kidd joined The Canada Life Assurance Company as a Pension Investment Consultant. Subsequent duties with Canada Life included Manager, Group Sales and Business Development Manager. He retired from Canada Life in August 2003 and now consults independently on corporate and personal retirement plan and investment issues.

Mr. Kidd was Associate Professor at Ryerson University in 2002 and 2003 teaching the "Pension Plans and Other Retirement Income Arrangements" course to students pursuing The Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.

In December 2003, Mr. Kidd completed the educational requirements necessary to obtain the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.

Office Manager

Bev Wilbore - Bev has been an active member of the JSL team for the past 10 years. Her responsibilities include the day to day operations and management of the office.
